Drone Photography plus Videography (Special Interest Group)
Contact: Gary Ford
Drone
A drone is a remotely-operated unmanned aerial device with an attached camera to take photos or videos. Drone image taking is becoming a popular art form. With altitude on your side, you’ll see the world from a bird’s-eye view.
Videography
Videography can use digital cameras, smart phones, and drones to capture videos of events, people or landscapes.
In this special interest group, hosted by Gary Ford, members come together to share their drone photos and videos captured by drone, smart phones or digital cameras. See slideshow of drone images and videos from IACC members.
This is a composite group where some of our attention will focus on drone flying and image capture, and some of our time will be spent on the intricacies of videography. We will explore different styles of video from cinematic to action, and discuss tools used to post-process images and video. This group is open to beginner, intermediate, and advanced drone pilots and/or videographers. It would be best, but not required, that members have access to a drone, digital camera or smartphone capable of taking photos and/or videos. We meet on the last Monday evenings of the month at 7:00 PM via zoom. Why Drones? Drone photography is about the thrill of discovering new perspectives. If you’re an experienced photographer, drones can open up a new world of possibilities for you to explore. If you’re new to the medium, drones are an incredible introduction to the power of photography. Why Videography? Short live action videos are often posted to social media or can be combined with still images to create longer artistic presentations. Meeting Format Meetings are conducted digitally via Zoom. To participate you will need a computer with a microphone and camera, or a smart tablet. You must pre-register to receive the link to the Zoom meetings. Outings An outing for an orientation to drone flying is tentatively planned for Sep 28 or Sep 29. The exact date and location is TBD and will be shared with members registered in this special interest group. Members are invited to bring their drone if they have one. We will cover the basics of drone flying and using the camera for both photos and videos. If you don’t have a drone, you might want to see other members' equipment and learn about the basics. |
